HP Chocolate Frog box

Well my oldest son wants a Harry Potter Birthday Party for his twelve birthday. I know that's way in March but the fact of the matter is I just recently became My sons Pack Committee Chair which is a big job, I will be in and out of school both for my boys and for myself. So I figured there is no harm in working on some stuff towards the party here and there. I came across this blog post that has tons of Harry potter Printables and I love the Chocolate Frog box!! I bought some realistic looking frog molds I plan to use to make chocolate ones and thought these frog boxes look so real and would be perfect!! I even found a post on instructables on DIY Harry Potter Wands and made a few with my boys and our Neighbors two boys and they LOVED them so I plan to make more between now and then for the kids at my sons party. I wanted to sorta make the down stairs areas into different parts, like one area be the candy shop, another be the wand shop and another is going to be the potions class in Hogwarts : ) I am so excited and have SOOOO many ideas I want to do for this party. It will be for 11 & 12 year olds so it has to be cool enough for them too lol. Here are some pictures of what we have started.

Two of the Chocolate Frog Boxes I made

Well that is about it for now : ) Excited and can't wait to show off more things We make for his party!!

Milk Jug Jack-o-Lantern Pumpkins

I started working on some milk jug Jack-o-lanterns today from some milk jugs I been saving to use for Halloween decorations. I got the idea from there Spirit Jugs project I found while looking up DIY Halloween decorations for the yard. I thought they were soooo cute, but I love Pumpkins during Halloween and Thanksgiving time so I decided to make mine pumpkins : )

Here's what I have done to make mine:

Milk Jug Jack-O-Lanterns

(It's being lite by a Flash Light to give you the idea of what it will look like)

What you will need:
  • Milk Jugs
  • X-acto knife
  • Jack-o-lantern face patterns
  • Orange, black, red, and green paint (either spray paint or acrylic paint will work)
  • Clear coat paint
  • Pumpkin lights
  • Optional: Newspaper for stems

What I did:

I took some pumpkin face patterns online and drew them onto the Milk jugs.

I then used the X-acto knife to cut out the faces on the milk jugs, on the back side I cut out a little flap spot to be opened to place the pumpkin lights in later.

I then painted the whole jug orange.

Once the orange was dried I used black and red to trace around the areas I had cut out so that when the light is on you are able to see the face design better.

I plan to get a news paper and twist pieces of it up and then paint them green. Once they are dry I will use a glue gun to glue them to the top of the Milk jugs to make it look even more like a pumpkin. Once I do this part I will use the clear coat paint on the entire pumpkin to protect the paint from the elements.
As soon as I finish them I will up-date this post asap so that the finished pumpkin can be seen : D

I made Halloween Bats

One of my favorite Holidays is Halloween and I wanted to start making some decorations for it. We can't always afford the big huge things I would love to have for the Holidays so I wanted to look stuff up and find things we could make that would look awesome and some creepy scary for our yard. I found a bunch of cool things we will be making but I made these bats first because I was able to use stuff I already had here at home : D

I used Martha Stewart's Hanging bats as an idea and looked online for some smaller templates as well. You can use the one from this blog or use the allyou "bat storm" template. I made a bunch for our home to decorate with and used clear packing tape to seal them so if we use them outdoors (which we plan to) the rain or other weather elements wont ruin them and we can use them for more Halloweens!! Here are some pictures of the ones we made : )

They are so cute, I made some solid black ones with black construction paper and the orange and purple ones I used some of my Halloween scrapbook paper I had. I can't wait to work on some of the other projects I want to try and do like Black cat window silhouettes, Homemade tombstones, reusable jack o' lanterns, Human sized ghosts, spirit jugs, spooky trees, and mouse motel out of a pumpkin just to name some  of the stuff we are excited about. I will post pictures of the things we make and do my best to post links to how to make your own like I did with the bats!! I know it's early for Halloween but I wanted to try and get some things made here and there so we wont be n a hurry to to make them in time for Halloween. Later all    : )

Geocaching

My neighbors and friends recently started playing this GPS game called geocaching and after looking it up my self it looks like a ton of fun!! I started an account yesterday on it and plan to go out with my family to Sandy Bottom nature park today and see if we can find some caches. I plan to take photos at every cache we do and when I have enough (and more ink for the printer) I will start making a geocache type scrapbook for us so we can keep record both online at the geocaching website and in our possession as well. That and if it's a lot of fun it would be a great memory keepsake for us and probably a great conversation starter : D As we do this I will try and remember to put a few pics on here from time to time about our adventures, I love the fact they call people who have no idea about the game muggles : )

Another not tomorrow are my boys last day of school til September. It's also my oldest son's class party and I have volunteered for the whole (it's a half day of school) day. Looking forward to it because there will be a game of kickball, a water balloon fight among other things.... Well that's all for now oh I did try this thing where you take the bottom parts of green onions and place in a cup of water and it will sprout out more green onions, well it worked and it's been a little over a week and they are as big as when I bought the green onions from the store lol. I'll add pictures as soon as stinkin' facebook decides it wants to work keep getting the URL message which is BS but what can you do right lol You should go check out the geocaching sight and if it sounds like something you would like to try start a free account. Also there is a free app called c:geo you can get and will work with the geocacheing site : D

Happy Hunting,

My CCFA Take Step's Team

I started a Take Steps BE HEARD team earlier this year because a family member of mine has Crohn's and seeing that person suffer from the disease really sucks especially since you can't do anything to make them feel better or more comfortable. I came across CCFA which stands for The Crohns and Colitis Foundation Of America. The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.

We have a team page on their Take Steps BE HEARD Website , Our team name is "Tatooine Rebels" . My personal page is Click Here . Our team goal is to raise $500 and my own personal goal is to reach $100.  We would appreciate any amount donated towards our team and or personal pages, as well as anyone who would like to walk with us during our walk September 30th 2012 at Tidewater Take Steps for Crohn's & Colitis   walk.

Thanks for any and all support and donations!!

 ^ My cucumber plants ^

^Not sure what this one is I thought it was a cucumber
but it isn't it looks more like a watermelon plant ^

^ My Birdhouse gourd plants ^

^ Some of my strawberry plants ^

shoe organizer ^

So I have a bunch of stuff growing now : ) I can't wait to start eating some the stuff from my garden!! I wont have one as big as year next year because when we move the place we are moving into wont allow me to plant in the ground so everything will have to grow in pots. I need to start collecting and buy large pots for my plants out front I am taking with me like my Tiger lilies, irises and hostas : ) So i will be looking up creative ways to grow my cucumbers and other plants next year from pots. Anyways I am going to call it a night there are a few shows I want to watch before heading to bed : D  Night all
